Hey Andrew, thanks. I definitely agree that individual decisions can explain some degree of economic equality. And that even if you reset the entire system so that everyone had exactly the same, you’d soon see inequality again. I don’t think anyone is arguing for equal outcome. UBI is more about providing a basic level of income that no one can fall below. There will still be others (probably most people) with other sources of income, and some who earn far more than the UBI. So it’s intended to solve the emerging challenge posed by automation-fuelled unemployment. It’s not intended to create a world where everyone has exactly the same.
